ABRIS Product Owner Daniel Kovacs

Team Portraits #1 – Daniel Kovacs

Product Owner and Head of Development Daniel Kovacs has his hands full at ABRIS. He keeps development processes on track and the team focused. He has one eye on the progress, one eye on the future, one eye on the big picture, and one on team members. And he even contributes to the marketing team’s efforts. No one knows how he does it with only one pair of eyes and a pair of hands. One thing is for sure, his structured mindset is a definite advantage to ABRIS. We asked him about his experience with us.

How did you join ABRIS?

Dani: I was looking for a new position, when ABRIS found me. We realized fast that we were, indeed, looking for each other.

The ABRIS motto is Excellence in Banking Operation. How do you help the clients’ journey towards excellence?

As a Product Owner, I’m deeply involved with the work of the Support Team and the Development Team, which are both key parts of ABRIS. The Support Team collect customer needs–although we can solve most requests, there are also new ideas arriving through this channel. The Development Team makes these client dreams come true. There is a wide range user needs and demands in the field of core banking management that are not catered to in the market. We strive to answer as many of these as possible with GAMMA, so as to make core banking operations more simple, secure, and hassle-free. Not to mention that with both teams, we closely follow IT trends and do our utmost to tackle potential problems before they arise.

For you, what have been the highlights in working at ABRIS?

Teamwork is quite solid at ABRIS; the developers, testers, and the support team all work together to keep customers satisfied and to ensure that our products make the life of users easier.

What are your current professional interests?

I have been involved in a variety of topics, but the current focus of my interest is Artificial Intelligence and how we could put it at the service of our clients. AI has long been with us, but it has only recently stepped into the spotlight with the spread of cloud services. The number of frameworks that support it is growing. By today, the question has shifted from “Shall we use AI?” to “What do we use AI for?”

What helps you balance your life when you’re not working?

During the pandemic, this question has become exponentially more important, as it is quite difficult to draw a line between work and private life in home office. Pre-pandemic, this line used to be conveniently provided by commuting; we had time to shift focus from work to home (or vice versa). I strive to think ahead in terms of both my work and my private life, and perhaps that’ll help me keep the balance between the two.
