Successful GAMMA TAFJ alignment at CIB Egypt

Budapest, March 2022. The GAMMA alignment with CIB Egypt’s Transact upgrade and TAFJ conversion went live last month. The alignment process followed along with the TAFJ conversion of the Bank’s Temenos Transact core banking system. Notably, this means that the Bank can continue to use GAMMA’s IT operations features from the very first moment of using the TAFJ system . Now that the ABRIS team has finished the procedure, the company focuses on follow-up and fine-tuning tasks.  

The first steps of the GAMMA TAFJ alignment

CIB Egypt has been using GAMMA for the enterprise-level monitoring and automation of its Temenos Transact system since 2017. The foundations for the Bank’s then-planned TAFJ update were laid down through a GAMMA upgrade in 2020. For the purpose of ensuring full compatibility with the soon-to-be rolled out Temenos Transact TAFJ hosts, the actual preparations for the GAMMA TAFJ alignment started in February 2021. The subsequent alignment process accompanied the Transact upgrade and TAFJ conversion from the first step to the last. This also determined the length and then schedule of the project.

First modifications focused on SIT and UAT environments. In the frame of this, the ABRIS team updated GAMMA routines and installed clients on new hosts, among other tasks. The SIT environment upgrade finished in May 2021. At this point the team moved on to the UAT installations, which was completed in June. In the Summer, ABRIS performed the necessary follow-up tasks and accommodated new development requests. Additionally, we started support for the Pre-production environment in September, and later in the year we were standing by at the dress rehearsals.

Transact conversion and GAMMA TAFJ alignment go live hand-in-hand

The rollout for the Temenos Transact Production environment slipped over to January 2022. The accompanying GAMMA TAFJ alignment go-live happened simultaneously. As a result, CIB Egypt can continue to enjoy GAMMA’s IT operations management features without any delay. The ABRIS team has since finished tackling the inevitable teething troubles of the refurbished system and is now focusing on new customer requests.

‘We had a great experience while upgrading GAMMA and converting to the TAFJ version. The upgrade happened with full support by the ABRIS team. Although the systems are stable, support will continue to enhance more and more facets of our IT operations.  We are looking forward for our future cooperation, same as it has always between CIB Egypt and ABRIS.’ 

ABRIS CIO, Viktor Weininger talked about the simultaneous nature of the Transact upgrade and the GAMMA alignment: 

‘As the GAMMA alignment followed along the Transact TAFJ conversion, GAMMA could advance the procedure by casting light on early conversion errors. As a result, the Transact team could pinpoint the root cause of errors and deliver resolutions promptly and efficiently.  The teams of ABRIS and CIB Egypt worked together all along, progressing arm-in-arm, installing the new environments and integrating the functions. The integration of the relevant systems and workflows reached completion in the Pre-production environment, which also completed the preparations for the Production environment. We advanced according to schedule, thanks to the close cooperation between the teams.
